The Friends Committee on National Legislation is a national, nonpartisan Quaker organization that lobbies Congress and the administration to advance peace, justice, and environmental stewardship. The organization’s website serves a diverse network of 60,000 advocates nationwide as well as staff and organizational leadership. In 2020, Rad Campaign partnered with FCNL to redesign their flagship website, fcnl.org. Our objectives were to co-create an impact-driven website around FCNL’s distinct brand. This included a data-driven approach to site architecture that dramatically improved the organization of their content. We implemented modern web design and development best practices to tell the story of their work, drive mobilization within FCNL’s national advocate network, and offer clear pathways for audiences to engage with FCNL programs, make donations, and learn about FCNL’s history and values.
Our work included:
- Translating findings from UX research and analysis into an inviting design that easily guides users to the information they seek.
- Migrating from a Ruby on Rails application on Heroku to a Enterprise-grade CMS hosted on Platform.sh.
- Implementing and improving SEO best practices for web and mobile audiences.
- Streamlining content workflows for Social Media and Newsletter syndication.
- Building a robust, user-friendly Search experience using Apache Solr.
- Custom theming and integrations for third-party platforms, APIs, and CRMs, including ActionKit and Quorum.
- A comprehensive social media audit and plan to create a cohesive brand and authentic voice across platforms while also increasing engagement and KPIs.
- Trainings designed so that non-technical staff can easily update their website sections.
- Post-launch technical support, enhancements, and security maintenance.
How Rad Campaign empowered FCNL for digital success
Upon completion of the redesign project, Rad Campaign was able to achieve the vision set forth by FCNL. We delivered a solution that allowed the organization to scale their digital footprint with a modern, user-friendly design while maintaining the core values of their organization. Additionally, we seamlessly implemented Social Media and SEO functionality to further drive engagement outside of the fcnl.org domain. Data backs this up. When comparing before and after the redesign, site analytics indicate:
